Everything you need to cook up a storm this Easter
Easter is one of our favourite times of year here at Bratts. From time off with the family, to Easter egg hunts, hot cross bun breakfasts, magic bunnies and baking, it really is a fun-filled, full family celebration.
Let’s be honest, a lot of the best bits about Easter are all about enjoying delicious food and drink with those we love. Baking those dainty little chocolate Easter nests, crafting show-stopping Easter cakes and of course – finishing it all off with the traditional Easter Sunday feast with the family is what the weekend is all about for us.
This Spring, we are helping you celebrate Easter in style! We’ve put together some top tips for pulling off an epic Easter lunch this year and how to make your table look the part with our Easter kitchen essentials from our stylish in-store brands in Northwich.
What makes up a traditional Easter lunch?
Easter lunch is a traditional Christian celebration marking the resurrection of Christ. It is a hugely important moment in the Christian calendar and so it is no wonder that so many people, Christian and non-christian, put such an effort into making sure their Easter Sunday meal is lavish and elegant.
While the traditional Lamb roast is a non-mover for many families (unless you prefer a different cut of meat or are non-meat eaters) there are different things you can do with your meal to jazz up your dinner and we’ll be sharing some of our favourite ideas with you here!
This Spring we’re loving the idea of having a light starter where the family can graze on a range of tapas like canapes. BBC good food has a lovely range of easy to difficult canapes to try out – depending on how adventurous you’re feeling.
Why not try pulling together a selection of three? You could go for asparagus wrapped in Parma ham, smoked salmon and cream cheese on potato cakes, and some mini mushroom pies to cater for a range of different flavours for your family to choose from.
To help you display your lovely, fresh first course, we have a range of beautiful serving sets from our Royal Douton, Portmeirion and Sophie Allport range in our kitchenware section in the Northwich Bratts store. Whether you are looking to add a splash of colour, stay neutral or opt for gorgeous spring designs, come down to browse our range to set the scene for your Easter table.
The Main Course
The main event! For us it really does have to be a traditional roast lamb at our Easter table! If you prefer a different joint, or if you are opting for a vegetarian alternative you could check out this range of vegetarian Easter dishes here. But, if like us you want to keep to tradition, we’ll be focusing on a lovely lamb dish.
To really get the flavours on your roast lamb, it’s all about the herbs and spices you put on prior to the roast with rosemary, thyme and garlic to name a few! Luckily for those of you who live in Northwich or nearby, we stock Cole & Mason in our store. Not only do we have a range of tasty herbs, spices and oils to choose from but they also come in elegant bottles and grinders to adorn your Easter table with too. You could treat yourself to a whole new spice rack and add new flavours to your potatoes and vegetables too!
This recipe from Tasty calls for you to make your herb rub in a food processor, smother over the meat and then pop your joint in a roasting tray to cook. If like us, you like to display your joint as a centre-piece for the table, you need to make sure your tray is table-worthy! Our Royal Doulton and Sophie Allport brands have a range of beautiful designs to choose from to suit your individual style.
For the table decoration itself, we have unique table runners, cloths and napkins from both our Sophie Allport and Ulster weavers range to add a splash of colour and to breathe some Spring into your room! Want to play the part of chef? Why not treat yourself to a beautiful new apron too to keep your Easter outfit looking perfect even when you’re in and out of the kitchen?
For the adults, help them enjoy their table wine in a gorgeous crystal glass from our Royal Scot Crystal collection and Portmeirion range. From timeless classics to floral engraved elegant glasses, we have a wide range of products to help you set the scene for your family this Easter to make it a celebration to remember.
Last, but by no means least – dessert!
When it comes to an Easter dessert, there are literally so many options to choose from. You could go for an extravagant Easter basket shaped carrot cake, an easy-peasy (but impressive looking) Easter-nest cornflake cake, or you could even decide to skip dessert and just go straight into the Easter-egg hunt and finish off the meal with a bit of chocolate! Whichever way you decide to go it’s always nice to end the meal with something sweet.
While the little ones are excused from the table to get on with the all-important egg hunt, it’s nice to offer adults an after dinner coffee or tea. Why not make this an extra special experience this year and serve up the hot drinks in elegant bone china?
If you want colourful, Spring colours then Ulster Weavers have simply stunning animal themed china. Or, if you prefer birds and wildlife then Portmeirion have delightful matching tea sets to choose from. For a more simplistic, modern elegance then Sophie Allport has some unique designs on bone china tea and saucer sets too to adorn your table with.
